Try different search words to see if the same item comes up across them
For example, when I was getting my phone wallet I searched “wallet” “card holder” “Id holder” etc. They’re all essentially the same item but people will name them differently and you can compare deals/designs.
Sort by average customer review
Yes, you can sort by price but I find that sorting by average review helps me find better quality items that I can then choose by price.
Limit to 4 stars and up
There’s too many suppliers on Amazon to be dealing with something with low reviews. Apply the filter of four stars and up especially if you’re sorting by price!
Toggle Prime on
If you’re in a hurry or don’t want to pay extra for shipping, toggle Prime on to only get things delivered by Amazon.
READ THE REVIEWS
I cannot stress this enough. Some suppliers will switch out different items under the same listing so all the rave reviews might not be for the item you’re getting!
Also in cases where there’s different types on the same listing (scents, flavors, years), the reviews can help you know which ones are better (I especially do this with bath and beauty products).
Lastly, something that has a lot of low reviews might be for an older version of the product (check if all the poor reviews are from years ago, or recently) or for things you don’t care about (the shipping speed, box the item came in, etc). Just a high level glance might make an item seem worse than it is until you dig in and realize the complaints are irrelevant to you in this year.
Look out for coupons
Amazon has coupons and price markdowns or lightning deals on some items. This means that an item listed at a seemingly higher price can actually BE CHEAPER at checkout than a seemingly lower priced item.
Contact customer service
If you experience any issues, Amazon has unreal return refund and exchange policies. I’ve gotten things for free this way. But don’t abuse the system, only go this route when there is genuinely an issue with your delivery.
